GERDAU Projeto (Gerdau)
One of the largest steel companies in Brazil, manufacturer of the most varied types of steel, with application in various sectors of the economy, from civil construction to the transformation industry. It exports to the whole world and has several factories scattered throughout the country.
Gerdau built a new large steel mill at its factory located in the city of Pindamonhangaba (SP), where it will produce steel ingots.
A three-story building, next to the new steel unit, houses several power panels, which feed the motors of the gigantic steel-making machines.
These panels generate an enormous amount of heat, they make the environment very hot, which needs to be refrigerated, with precision equipment for temperature and humidity control.
Gerdau wanted a turn-key project that would be capable of carrying out precision cooling of the building, thus preventing the panels from overheating, which would compromise the operation of the motors and machines on the production line.
The project was entrusted to Klimatix, which delivered two model RLA -130 chillers, a model EB-30 water pumping station with variable speed, five model CPMC -10 precision fan coils, seven model CPMC -17 precision fan coils, a precision model CPM-17 and, finally, some fancolets and other items for air conditioning and ventilation of comfort environments.
Klimatix executed the turn-key work , manufacturing the refrigeration equipment, installation and startup , delivering the equipment running and in full operation.
The chilled water plant, made up of two chillers Klimatix , model RLA-130, cools the water that passes through the pumping station to 7ºC, both installed in an external area, on the terrace of the building. In the three-story building, the first two received the fan coils to cool the electrical panels. On the top floor, divided into meeting rooms, Klimatix installed fans for thermal comfort.
The pumping station sends chilled water to the rooms of the building, doing precision cooling through the fan coils . With the heat exchange, the hot water returns to the chillers that cool it and send it back, feeding back the process.
The 12 precision fan coils complete the process, blowing cold air into the environment, thus cooling the rooms where the power panels are. Apart from that chilled water system, a precision split was installed in the building next door to cool a mini data center .
The project was a pleasant surprise for the client, who was used to purchasing equipment and installation separately.
